Amazon’s upcoming series The Wheel of Time, based on the best-selling fantasy novels, reveals the first look at Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran.

Written by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, The wheel of time series of 14 novels and has become the best-selling fantasy series since JRR Tolkien The Lord of the Rings. In 2018, Amazon rocked the fantasy world by announcing it was going to adapt Wheel of time in a fantastic action series.

Hailed for its detailed fantasy world, impeccably developed magical system, and intricate weaponry, Wheel of time follows Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of the all-female organization Aes Sedai, as she embarks on a perilous mission. While vital details about Amazon’s ambitious adaptation have remained hidden, the streaming service has been handing out nuggets of information from the show since last year. These include a look at Emond’s Field in Both Rivers, a peek at the series’ essential weapons, and the first look at Pike as Moiraine. Now, Amazon has unveiled a peek at another character.

Henney took to his Twitter account to post a clip that reveals the first look at his character al’Lan Mandragoran, a guardian linked to Moiraine. In the short 6-second clip, a man’s voice ominously declares: “You think you know this world… ”As Lan Mandragoran appears on screen with flames behind him and the voice continues to say,“…you know nothingg. “Next, al’Lan Mandragoran turns his stone demeanor towards a fuzzy opponent before hitting the creature with his blade as the screen abruptly goes black. While the video doesn’t offer many details like who Lan Mandragoron is talking to, Henney’s detailed costume certainly brings Jordan’s work to life. Of course, fans of Wheel of time continue to speculate that Lan’s lyrics are intended for Rand, who is portrayed by Josha Stradowski. Directed by Rafe Judkins, Wheel of time is expected to consist of eight episodes and includes a massive cast, including Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al ‘Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere and Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin.
