Remember when Cam Newton mentionned he no longer felt safe in the field? Yes, he still scores a point.

In the second quarter of Monday night’s game between the Panthers and Redskins, Newton rushed out of the pocket near the sideline. After crossing the line of scrimmage, he began to slip.

It was then that he was shot in the head of Trent Murphy.

Still, Newton is the one who was flagged on the play … for throwing the ball lightly in Murphy’s direction immediately after play was over, which ended up knocking the Panthers out of range. They were forced to kick because of the 15-yard penalty, which cost them three points.

Obviously, it should have been a flag.

It’s the kind of season it’s been for Newton. He was completely destroyed in the first game of the season against the Broncos and the punishment did not cease.

Monday night was just another example.
