Fantasy Flight Games announced that the old expansions for both The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and Arkham Horror: The Card Game will be repackaged and re-released in the coming months to take advantage of the studio’s new approach to live card game expansion cycles. Following the announcement that future extensions of Arkham Horror: The Map Game would be released via two expansion boxes – one containing only story content and the other containing new investigator cards for players – Fantasy Flight Games has announced that it will repackage existing expansion cycles both Arkham Horror in this new format.

Additionally, Fantasy Flight Games also announced that they will be releasing a revised core set of The Lord of the Rings: The Map Game, as well as the re-release of several expansion rounds of this game as similar Player Expansion and Campaign Expansion sets. The base set revised for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Not only would it include enough maps to support up to 4 players right out of the box, it would also include new campaign maps, perks, and burdens that haven’t been released for the game before. Existing players of the game will be able to use these cards for free through printable versions that will be posted on the FFG website. Fantasy Flight Games studio director Chris Gerber quickly noticed that all of the The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game The campaign expansion would be re-released, but that these re-releases were designed to help introduce the game to new players.

Fantasy Flight Games also announced two standalone story packs, one each for Arkham Horror: The Card Game and The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. “Machinations Through Time” will follow players as they explore Arkham through three different time periods, following a group of scientists who keep disappearing through time. “The Dark of Mirkwood” reissues two scenarios for The Lord of the Rings: The Map Game which were previously only available as part of a limited-edition collector’s Starter Set of the game. Both packs will be released in early 2022.
