The green knight finally arrives in the UK today after a long wait for expected viewers.

It was released on July 30 in the US and is arriving in theaters and streaming from today in the UK.

Starring Dev Patel, the film is an adaptation of the 14th century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from Arthurian legend, which was adapted into modern English by JRR Tolkien in 1925.

The plot revolves around Gauvain accepting a challenge from the mystic Chevalier Vert to strike him a blow, after which he has a year to deliver the same blow to Gauvain.

From there, Gauvain sets off on a journey to test his courage and face the main character again.

Director David Lowery brought the project to life, and it was well received by critics with a somewhat more mixed audience.

Who stars in The Green Knight?

Dev Patel, who is perhaps best known for his lead role in Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, leads a star cast as Gauvain.

The likes of Alicia Vikander, Sean Harris, Sarita Choudhury and Barry Keoghan are also present, with Ralph Ineson portraying the Green Knight himself.

The film has a double UK release, it is available to stream from home and to watch in theaters.

It’s available to stream if you have an Amazon Prime account.

There is a limited selection of theaters showing the film, primarily at the Curzon or Everyman theaters.
