Luke Evans (Immortals, The Hobbit movies, The beauty and the Beast) has been engaged in a lead role for Apple’s upcoming action series Echo 3, according to Variety. The 10-episode series comes from Oscar winner Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Dark zero thirty) who will serve as executive producer and co-showrunner with Jason Horwitch.
Evans most recently appeared in The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, The Pembrokeshire Murders, and Crisis. His upcoming projects include adapting the miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers, Live action from Robert Zemeckis Pinocchio for disney and drama Bear season.

Echo 3 takes place in South America and follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist, who is the emotional hub of a small American family. When she goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother, Bambi (Evans), and her husband – two men with deep military experience and a complicated past – struggle to find her in a drama set in the explosive context of a secret war.
The project is produced by Apple and Keshet Studios.

Executive producers include Peter Traugott, Boal, Horwitch, Stan Wlodkowski, Omri Givon, Eitan Mansuri and Jonathan Doweck of Keshet Studios. Avi Nir from Keshet Media Group, Alon Shtruzman from Keshet International and Karni Ziv from Keshet Broadcasting will also be EPs.
