Lord of the Rings Online features an immersive recreation of JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth, and now VIP players are invited to start over and have a fresh start on the new legendary servers: Shadowfax and Treebeard.
Originally introduced with the legendary world of Anor, LOTRO’s Legendary Servers initially start out with content level 50 and below, with an emphasis on the story of Shadows of Angmar. Additional regions, content, and level cap unlock over time, allowing VIP players to revisit iconic locations, enjoy chapter-by-chapter storytelling, and immerse themselves in the bustling world of Middle-earth. With the launch of Shadowfax and Treebeard, players will have even more opportunities to make a fresh start and adventure at their own pace, while challenging themselves if they choose! These two worlds also launch new landscape difficulty levels, which you can learn more about below.
The Shadowfax server allows players to move forward and experience a new, fast-paced adventure:
- Get + 50% XP, Legendary XP items and Mount XP, and + 20% Virtue XP
- Unlocks content and regions faster than normal, approximately every two months.
The Treebeard server helps players take their time and enjoy the breathtaking views of Middle-earth:
- Get only 40% of the XP you would normally receive (-60% reduced XP).
- Unlocks content and regions less frequently than normal, approximately every five to six months.
Shadowfax and Treebeard are also launching a new landscape difficulty option that is only available on these two servers. It will be difficult for players to adjust the landscape between Normal and Deadly +6, which increases the challenge of enemies encountered on the landscape. Difficulty can be changed again at any time by talking to Berthadan near the Prancing Pony in West Bree, but players who stick to the challenge and maintain their higher difficulty level will be rewarded with titles when they reach the levels 50 and 130.
For those who brave deadly difficulties, an additional danger awaits you with the “Eye of Sauron” effect. Once Sauron’s Eye is activated, progress will be hampered by several random effects that last for approximately one minute. Players will receive an XP and Virtue XP boost to run on these higher difficulties, from + 10% XP up to + 20% XP and from + 1% up to + 5% Virtue XP.
