“Keep your head down and work,” Lewis said. “An opportunity is going to present itself, and you just have to make the most of it. “
Lewis has had plenty of time in coach Sean McDermott’s defensive system, so he should be ready to jump into defensive lineup if called up against the Dolphins on Sunday.
“All of our guys, from channel 1 to channel 2, to channel 3, we’re all on the same page,” he said. “We all know the same communication, so it really doesn’t fall off because of the injuries and stuff like that.”
This mentality was instilled in him during his stay at UB.
Coach Lance Leipold “brings some real tough guys,” Lewis said. “They win every opportunity given to them. I feel like this is just the mindset of this program. We’re really not that well-known, but we’re getting there and we’re going to work for whatever we want. The grinding mentality is exactly how we operate.
With Lewis added to the 53-man roster, the Bills have added defensive tackle Brandin Bryant and linebacker Deon Lacey to the practice squad. Defensive tackle Chris Slayton has been released from the practice squad.
Linebacker Matt Milano (hamstring) did not train Thursday for a second straight day, questioning his availability for Sunday’s game. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds (shoulder) was able to train on a limited basis.
