Cam Newton is a Heisman winner, an NFL MVP and now a New England Patriot. Before Newton dons his new jersey for the first time, we introduce Patriots fans to the man who hardly needs to be introduced.

He’s much more than an athlete with a bold fashion sense, so here’s what Patriots fans can expect from Newton off the court.

After most touchdowns there’s an iconic celebration of Newton, whether it’s a dab or Superman, but in the quieter times Newton makes young fan day. Instead of keeping the soccer ball, Newton gives it to the children in the stands.

Asked by the Charlotte Observer why he’s doing this, Newton said it started his rookie year as a compromise with his former offensive coordinator Mike Shula. Shula didn’t always like Newton’s celebration, so when Newton asked her what else he could do, her trainer suggested what eventually became known as “Sunday Gifts.”

It didn’t take long for Newton to become addicted.

“I caught the ball and made eye contact with a kid in the front row. And it was like we’ve known each other forever. I handed him the ball and it was the most priceless moment that I was able to touch until then. ”Newton told the Observer. “Giving a child or a kid a soccer ball … is something you will cherish throughout your professional career. I have seen children cry.”
